The mission of the 2-hr UK CEO Forum was to provide a unique, powerful and valuable space for the candid sharing of experience between the sector’s most senior executives so that they can leave with new ideas that will drive their businesses and the sector forward.

It was an invitation only, exclusive roundtable forum where all participants are active discussants and have an equal voice. Limited to 30 CEO/CFOs to ensure conversation is meaningful, it followed a strict Chatham House Rule policy and includes case study peer review and a general discussion focused on brainstorming solutions to the collective challenges of CEO/CFOs in the sector.

Taking place in a closed door session at the Biotech and Money / Medtech and Money World Congress, the forum featured:

  • A State of the Market presentation with views on the M&A and Capital Markets landscape
  • 2 x interactive peer review case studies of recent transactions or deals, presented by CEOs and moderated by experts in their fields
  • A 45 min focused roundtable discussion on funding, financing and investment challenges in the region that will have actionable outcomes as its goal.

The Case Studies

CEO/CFOs and/or Event Partners put forward “cases” – either success stories or current challenges – focusing on either a fundraising, financing, M&A, licensing or other corporate transaction and used the group as “consultants” with this format:

  • The Headline – short and enticing.
  • The Nutshell – a concise statement of the issue.
  • The Background – the players, what was at stake, etc.
  • What’s was tried? What worked and what didn’t.
  • Clarifying questions from the group.
  • Peer Consultation.
  • Review - What are you taking back with you – what will you try?

The General Discussion

All the attendees in the room were be asked:

“If you could have the answer to one question that would help change the fundamental way your business runs, what would it be?”

The questions were be scored– the highest score going to the question asked by the most people, and that becoming the focus of the discussion.

  • Time will be managed carefully, with plenty of time for discussion
  • Each speaker is asked to communicate a clear message & solicit specific feedback
  • The moderator will be briefed to guide the discussion to touch on all participants concerns
