We're delighted to announce that the official chosen charity for the 2016 Biotech and Money Assembly and Awards Dinner is the UK Sepsis Trust. We are proud to be supporting this UK based grass roots charity.

Every year in the UK there are 150,000 cases of Sepsis, resulting in a staggering 44,000 deaths – more than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined. Sepsis is a life threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. Sepsis leads to shock, multiple organ failure and death especially if not recognised early and treated promptly.

The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) was established as a charity in 2012 with the objective of saving 12,500 lives every year. They are committed to changing the way the NHS deals with Sepsis, to increasing public awareness and supporting those affected by Sepsis. At the UK Sepsis Trust, they recognise the scale and significance of the impact of severe sepsis on sufferers and their families. Although many patients return to a normal life, those who survive the condition may experience longstanding physical effects, and some suffer from psychological difficulties resulting from their prolonged illness.

Attendees at the 6th September Awards and Gala Dinner will be invited to donate to our chosen charity, with all proceeds raised by the executive audience going to the UK Sepsis Trust via JustGiving.
